Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Deli & Retail Customer Service person to join our tight-knit team. This role offers an opportunity to grow within a tradional small business that values quality work, passion for food, and friendly customer interactions.
Position Type
Vacancy is for a minimum of 40 hours per week - full time equivalent available
Flexible arrangements: Full-time, part-time, or casual.
Willing to consider appointing multiple applicants to fill the required hours.
Potential for growth or skill-building across functions within the business
Work Schedule
Negotiated around standard trading hours
Trading hours are Tuesday to Friday: 7am - 6pm, Saturday: 7am - 2pm. Closed Sunday and Monday.
Peak trading months (November - January): Additional over time hours available
Annual closure: Minimum 3 weeks in July
Fully on-site position, no work from home available
Compensation
Remunerated in accordance with Meat Industry Award [MA000059]

Key Responsibilities
Retail Display Management
Expertly arrange and maintain displays of gourmet meats and complementary products
Ensure visual appeal and product freshness
Customer Interaction
Handle phone orders with warmth and professionalism
Collect order details accurately
Provide knowledgeable and friendly service
Product Preparation
Precise slicing, packaging, and labelling of smallgoods
Handle bulk processing of products like bacon, ham, and salami
Maintain high standards of food presentation
Inventory Management
Monitor stock levels
Co-ordinate re-ordering with local suppliers
Maintain organised and efficient product flow
Required Skills and Qualifications
Essential
Food safety and handling certification
Understanding of hygiene practices, both personal & within food workplaces
Knowledge of food preparation area cleaning procedures & chemical useage
Desired previous experience:
Deli or food workplace
Food preparation
Clean up procedures
Retail customer service
Basic Microsoft Office programs
